Are you looking for pre-qualified franchisee candidates with all the necessary funding? Led by franchise professionals, FranchisingWorks is an innovative programme to reduce unemployment by helping the unemployed create new businesses and jobs through franchising. It has also developed a unique fund to lend to successful candidates with insufficient financial resources of their own.

Working closely with local employment agencies, private and third sector partners, FranchisingWorks seeks to:
- raise awareness and understanding of franchising;
- encourage the unemployed to explore franchising as a route into self-employment through a series of in-house workshops, one-to-one sessions and independent research;
- introduce promising candidates to approved franchisors; and
- provide financial assistance to those without adequate finance by purchasing the franchise licence on their behalf until their businesses can afford to buy it.

The programme is currently piloting in Greater Manchester and is supported by RBS Group, NESTA, AGMA and the New Economy.

FranchisingWorks is also one of a small consortium including Blue Orchid, A4e and Business Finance North West that has recently been appointed by the Royal British Legion to deliver the Be the Boss programme across the UK. The scheme, which opened for business in October, has so far attracted interest from over 1,000 ex-armed forces personnel interested in starting up their own businesses.
