When Guy Watson began growing vegetables organically on his family’s farm in South Devon, it was the beginning of Riverford Organic. They are now one of the country’s largest independent organic growers and pioneering veg box suppliers, delivering to over 45,000 customers per week through their network of over 70 franchisees. Here Guy will be telling the Riverford story; how it all began and where it’s going now…
I was born and raised at a traditional South Devon farm, where life centered around the kitchen. The richness of that upbringing has been the guiding light in my life. In 1993 I started an organic vegbox business, fired by a passion for good food combined with traditional farming principles and a determination to loosen the supermarket stranglehold on quality and supply. Dealing fairly with everybody remains intrinsic to the way the business operates.
