With the proliferation of online property portals including Googles recent entry into the property sector, the traditional high street Estate Agent model is changing. The US and Australia have already encountered this change and property vendors appoint selling agents to sell for them while homebuyers appoint Buying Agents to locate and negotiate on property purchases for them. According to The Observer around 63% of homes in the USA are bought using Buying Agents. In the UK it has been mainly the wealthier buyers who use them but this is set to change as more homebuyers learn about the benefits and agents become available in all areas of the UK.
