Article excerpt----------------------------------------

Ramen will be the next globally popular Japanese food after sushi. Ramen restaurant business will be a revenue pillar for future growth.

Withlink aims to expand its global network to 300 stores by 2034. (approx. 70% will be overseas) It plans to open a BARI-UMA store, which serves tonkotsu pork-bone soup ramen, in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh this spring. Using Scotland as a steppingstone, Withlink is also considering such markets as Germany and Italy. It is also looking to expand into the Middle East using ramen with a halal-certified chicken-based soup it developed.

The ramen market is expanding both at home and abroad. The number of Japanese restaurants overseas increased roughly 20% from 2021 to 187,000 in 2023, according to the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries in Japan, which says that the popularity of both sushi and ramen is helping boost the numbers.
